NRA Certified Course - This is a 2-day/14 hour Defensive Shooting Level 1 & 2 Course. This is an advanced course for the experienced shooter. NRA Certificate of Completion awarded.

This course is a comprehensive and intensive course that focuses on defensive shooting skills. The course teaches students the knowledge, skills and attitude essential for avoiding dangerous confrontations and for safe, effective and responsible use of a concealed pistol for self-defense outside the home.

The NRA Basics of Personal Protection Outside the Home course consists of two levels (Basic and Advanced). Basic provides you with the essential knowledge and skills that must be mastered in order to carry, store and use a firearm safely and effectively for personal protection outside the home.

Upon completion of the Basic portion of the course, students may choose to attend the Advanced session, which teaches advanced defensive shooting skills and special shooting techniques. After the classroom portion, students should expect to spend several hours on the range and shoot approximately 400 rounds or more of ammunition.

You should bring your primary defensive pistol (no shotguns) and a minimum of 400 rounds (both levels of course) of good quality factory target ammunition for that pistol. Please limit pistol and ammunition choices between .22 caliber and .45 caliber. Also, bring three (3) or more magazines or speed loaders and an ammunition pouch for that pistol to be used for the live-fire exercise on the range. Bring a reliable fitting holster (no pocket, small of the back, fanny-pack or shoulder holsters). All firearms should be unloaded and cased. All firearms must be inspected by the instructor prior to use on the range and the instructor reserves the right to reject any firearm if he feels it is unsafe for use.

There are three major components to the course. A classroom component, a written examination, and a live-fire hand-gun range component. In order to successfully complete the course, students must attend the classroom portion, complete a short written examination based on the lesson material and successfully qualify during the live-fire portion of the course.
